During the summer of 2007 the Web Marketing team at National City hired us to put some finishing touches on an online promotion that coincided with the upcoming NFL football season. The marketing team got a late go ahead from the NFL to proceed with a points promotion targetting 3 separate NFL team markets. The promotion included the Cincinnati Bengals, the St. Louis Rams and the Cleveland Browns and tied National City's existing points campaign into the total points scored at the end of the season.
Each team needed a custom landing page for signing up entrants and showcasing scoreboard data as the season progresssed. Points customers could enter for free by using the custom form designed and built into each page.
We had some initial ideas of a flash scoreboard that calculated scores dynamically, but settled for a low-tech solution of individual numbers in .gif files that could be easily managed and updated within National City's existing content management system.
The landing pages were launched on time, promoted at home games, updated weekly and successfully introduced thousands of football fans to points from National City.
