Ralston Instruments is a world renowned manufacturer of pressure calibration equipment. It is a family owned business that was founded in 1969 with the invention of the pneumatic and hydraulic Quick-test pumps.

This project came to me with a vast amount of rock-solid research and planning already in place. I was given a stack of wireframes and able to dive right in. Due to the personas, I knew who I was designing for right away - field engineers, office administrators and distributors. Many site visitors were international, still on dial-up connections and using smaller resolution displays. A smooth, seamless interface that was optimized for fast load times was in order. I relied on flat colors, typography and spatial alignments to define the interface.

Since Ralston doesn't sell to end customers, the new site makes it easy for customers to find the right instruments and connect with a local distributors who stocks it. It's a win-win situation for Ralston, their customers and distributors.
