David Garmon hired us to create business cards for his new barber shop. He just signed over the paperwork and taken ownership of one of Cleveland's most respected barber shops.
One of the most compelling things about the shop is its unique history. Dave wanted to stay true to the shop's history and slowly infuse some of his own personal touches along the way. He handed us a red, white and blue straight razor image that he liked. He's one of a few remaining barbers in the Cleveland area who still give straight razor shaves after a haircut and wanted to incorporate the graphic somehow.
We met over coffee, talked about his plans and got to work. We started out with some initial research where we gathered photos of existing typography and signage around the shop. We leveraged the existing red and blue barbership colors and drew our own straight razor lineart. Our plan was to add some style through tasteful typography selections and careful attention to details - just like a haircut.
The end result is a custom business card design that captured the existing barber shop aesthetic while adding some unique touches that represented Dave's vision for the future.
